Hey friends! Trying my best to keep this blog sweet and simple. I love to talk and explain every little detail, but with this trip definitely being a YOLO, spontaneous moment everything we enjoyed was not captured. But of course in typical Martiana fashion I snapped pictures while we enjoyed some moments. Our day at Disney Springs was actually a day and a half and its perfect for anyone who wants that Disney fix but doesn’t want to necessarily do the parks. When we use to live in Orlando (it was downtown Disney) spending the day here was always exciting.
We arrived in Orlando the day after New Year, which was honestly supposed to be Miami oops! I accompanied my Mother in Law to help drive my nieces back to Florida after the Christmas break. Long story short we decided to stay over night at the Sheraton Vistana Villages Resort to rest and let the kids have a little fun. Also our hotel was such a great deal, $199 a night and they gave us a $150 Visa gift card to attend a meeting about their properties. Win win.
So our room was basically $50, we stayed one night and drove to Miami the next evening.
Our first day in Orlando (we ended up spending 2 days here) we enjoyed the resort, did some local shopping and spent the evening at Disney Springs. The first evening it was kind of packed (why we stayed a few hrs), not going to lie but they had social distances stickers placed, sanitizing stations and temperature checks among entering. That evening we ate, get a few souvenirs, mickey light up balloons…..because its Disney lol. We ended up eating at B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. which serves artisan sausage and hot dogs. It was quick and easy because everything had a wait. Last time we visited three years ago it was fairly new and we didn’t have a chance to try it but I’m glad we did this time around. It definitely was tasty just be prepared to spend between $10-$15 for a hot dog….it’s Disney. FYI the chili dog and rueben sausage were so good!
We did get to do some shopping at basin (bath and body store) which honestly was well organized with distancing and limiting too many people in at once.
Day two we spent the whole day there which was a Sunday and it was half the people and so much fun because we got to enjoy it more. I pretty much let the kids eat whatever they wanted because why not?…. We had ice cream, milkshakes, Disney themed desserts, doughnuts, frozen lemonades, hot chocolate oh I forgot we had sprinkles cupcakes too, the night before.
Bentley had to have a groot shoulder pet, pictured below. It was the only thing he wanted, ask me how many times he’s used it….
The World of Disney gift shop wait was too long the night before so I promised him the next day. The next day we got to take our time at the store, let the kids shop and Makenzi finally got the perfect stitch leather backpack. We finished our day with dinner at Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming (he was Oprah’s chef for 10 yrs) which didn’t disappoint. Myli ordered fried chicken and doughnuts, Bentley had a kids cheeseburger meal, I ordered the county club with a side of kale and collards….so good! I didn’t get a picture of Makenzi’s food cause sis was hungry lol but she ordered a chicken tender meal. I absolutely recommend this restaurant if you ever get a chance, but if your in the Atlanta area and you’ve stayed at the Intercontinental before you probably tried his other restaurant Southern Art before. He just really does southern food well.
Below I added some pictures of what I got to capture of our unexpected fun weekend. Sometimes the unplanned can be really fun, I know I as well as the kids really loved this moment, it was such a treat and made me miss living in Orlando and traveling even more but so thankful for these moment. Are you planning to travel this year ? and if so where are you headed.
